"Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him."
The Psalmist in this chapter (David) invites us to experience for ourselves and witness that God indeed is good. Speaking from his own experience of God’s continuing deliverance and provision, David was likely challenging his readers and listeners to prove for themselves that God never fails those who take refuge in Him.
What does it take to experience God’s goodness for yourself? Most definitely, it takes more than just hearing about God’s goodness. And it takes more than reading about it from the Scriptures. It takes meditating on the meaning of God’s Words and observing His ways in our lives. This is exactly what God meant when he talked with Joshua after this man of God succeeded Moses and followed God’s leadership in bringing the people across Jordan River to enter the promised land. (Joshua 1:8). Are you ready to prove that God indeed is good? Matthew 5:6 assures us that those who hunger and thirst will be satisfied. So taste, and you will see.
