3 Reasons Why Christians Should Be Kind

God expects us all to treat others as we would like to be treated. Jesus was a prime example of how to be kind to others, regardless of how sinners acted towards him. There was no retaliation on His end, even though He was looked down upon. Through this, He was still able to show compassion and love to the sick and weak. Every child of God needs to be kind like Jesus (Colossians 3:12).

Honestly, it is quite a challenge to show this level of restraint, and no one is perfect. Being kind is a virtue and there are definitely moments when people can get under your skin and bring up the urge to return to hate. Here are the most important reasons why we should act with kindness in our hearts instead.

Kill Your Enemies With Kindness

When someone is being mean to you, it’s more of a reflection of what is going on with them, not you. People may antagonize you to get you to give them a reaction. Don’t fall for this trap and give them a reason to keep digging. Instead, show them kindness.

Stay cool, calm, and collected. Keep quiet when people are being rude. You will be rewarded by God for your benevolence and your enemies will be left with no ammunition.

Feel Better About Yourself

It’s a two-way street. We’ve all been on the receiving end of hostile behavior, but most of us have also acted unkindly towards someone else. It doesn’t feel good. You feel awful. The world can persuade us to act a certain way, that isn’t always nice. Being kind to others is a better feeling that being mean. Just knowing that someone treated you with kindness and respect will change your attitude and in turn, you’ll pass it on. Remember kindness is infectious!

Help Others

These days many people are self-centered. It’s hard to find people that are willing to lend a helping hand. Be kind and open up doors to help others. If someone is hurting, reach out and help them. Small acts of kindness go a long way. Christians must be kind and take the initiative to show what it means to behave in a Godly manner.
