In moments of weakness, sometimes we’re looking for a sign. We need a reason or an answer to the question, “why?” Turning to God can help many cope and many answers can be found.
God Loves You
The first step is to realize that God loves you and he has a plan for you. In the Bible it says, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not die, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). In response to this, Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Life is full of purpose.
Focus on You
The second step is to focus on yourself. To remind yourself that we are sinful by nature, and separate from God. We’ve all committed sins by saying or thinking bad things. The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Jesus Died For Our Sins
Thirdly, Jesus was sent by God to die for your sins. Jesus sacrificed himself in our place so that we can have a relationship with God. We can be with him for all eternity. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but was resurrected. “Jesus Christ died for our sins. … He was buried. … He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus is the way to God and he said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6).
Pray
Lastly, pray. Praying to God and knowing that he loves you and has a plan for you will give you solace. Talk with God. He knows you intimately and if you are honest with him and speak to God with an open heart all will be well. Accept Jesus as your Savior by saying this prayer, for example: “Jesus Christ, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. Thank you for dying on the Cross for me, set me free from all my sins and forgive me today. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Be with me forever. Thank you Jesus!”
