"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day."
The strength of a Christian does not come from strength in our bodies. Christ promised us tribulation in this world but told us to take heart, He has overcome the world. Whether we are sick, persecuted, brokenhearted, or downtrodden, it doesn’t matter. Outwardly we are wasting away; our bodies are dying. Our bodies are infirm. One day, they will give up altogether as we all pass away and fly to Glory.
And yet, Paul says inwardly we are being renewed day by day. God, in His mercy, strengthens us and gives us joy by His grace and through His Spirit. When we wait upon the Lord, we will rise up with wings like eagles. This is the fulfillment of Paul’s words. Through our sanctification and our struggles as Christians walking in this world, God grows us more and more into the image of Christ. Rejoice, believer! You resemble your King!
