Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Christians are to live in humility, gentleness, patience, and love and so walk as our Lord once walked. The Apostle Paul tells us to be completely humble and gentle, making these traits the primary graces that flow from our hearts. Those who walk in gentleness and humility are those who give grace to all, both great and small, the righteous and the unrighteous alike.

To be patient and bear with one another in love speaks of our brothers and sisters, fellow Christians in the Lord. Patience waits for others and does not hurry one along to fulfill the needs of themselves. Bearing with love is continuing in genuine affection toward one another, regardless of shortcoming or vice, as we are all one in Christ Jesus. These graces are fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and are mentioned elsewhere in Scripture as well (1 Corinthians 13:4). When we live accordingly, we bring great glory to Christ.
