In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, God is given a beautiful name: The God of all Comfort. What a fantastic name it is, for Christ Himself promised to give us a Comforter in John 14:16, the Holy Spirit Himself. Why is God known for His comfort? That we might be able to give others the same comfort we have received from God. It is a glory to know God helps us in our trials in order to help others in theirs. Thus, we are the hands and feet of Jesus to them.
Lord, may the gentleness of Your comfort teach us how to give comfort to those we love as we lift them up to You. Keep us ever grateful for Your comforting hand and never take it for granted. We are able to come to You endlessly for infinite comfort and this is one of the greatest mercies of our God.
