We Beseech Thee, O Lord

We Beseech Thee, O Lord

"Grant, we beseech thee, O Lord, that the prayers of thy holy Abbot, blessed Giles may commend us unto thee: that we, who have no power of ourselves to help ourselves, may by his advocacy find favour in thy sight. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who being God, lives and reigns with You in the unity of the same Holy Spirit, for ever and ever."

St. Giles

This prayer asks the Lord Jesus to hear the prayers of Giles, that by his intercession, those who pray these words would gain our Lord’s compassion upon them. Those who are weak need the Lord’s favor, as those who have the favor of God dwell in His strength. The strength of God comes through our Lord Jesus, whoever lives to make intercession for us.

We pray these words when we have no strength, asking God to make His face shine upon us (Numbers 6:25). That is when we shall walk and not faint.
